New Marlborough Yard is a mixed-use development in London SE1.The development is a 274-bedroom hotel between Ufford Street and the Lewisham Southwark College Building.
• The development will also include Whitbread’s latest Bar + Block restaurant format and high-quality public realm consisting of a public courtyard and pocket park.
• Two blocks of accommodation, connected via a glass bridge, will contain the Premier Inn bedrooms and Bar + Block restaurant and the courtyard will feature seating, sculptures and landscaped green spaces.
• Completion summer 2020.
• The development has been designed to achieve a BREEAM Excellent energy rating.
• Block A is 6 stores of Metframe over a basement and Block B has 4 stores of Metframe of and RC frame forming the basement and Ground floor transfer slab
• We used 154 Tonnes of Metsec 100 mm wide light gauge steel studs to form a gross floor area of 6200 m2.
• The Metframe structure has 3 lift shafts and three hot rolled steel welded pans stairs.
• The Metframe supports the exquisitely complex masonary to most elevations
• The two blocks are connected by a 4 storey Glass bridge – supported off the Metframe
• The develop was very difficult logistically as the site boundaries abutted residential accommodation, Lewisham College and very narrow London streets – consequently all deliveries were via small ridged lorries
• The two Metframe blocks were construction concurrently using two cranes in 17 weeks – and completed on time.
